The RB team is pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for both Manufacturer of the Year and Apprentice of the Year for the East Staffordshire & South Derbyshire Business Awards.

In 2021, RB won Business of the Year and was commended/highly commended for all 3 categories that we applied for including Manufacturer of the Year, Best Use of Innovation/Technology, and Employer of Year. It is great to be making a comeback at the awards this year and we hope to be equally as successful.

Neil Harris, Plant Design Manager, has worked hard (alongside others) to design and manufacture RB’s latest Ground Improvement Vibro Rig, 4502, following the successful introduction of 4501 in March 2020. This allowed the Plant Department to make enhancements to the latest machine with the knowledge gained from the operation service of its sister rig to improve and optimise the new machine.

The build of this new machine is a great addition to our fleet, strengthening our GI department’s capabilities. The addition of instrumentation and improvements to the control system means that we have better performance and digital records of work completed. The Stage IV engine helps improve fuel efficiencies whilst reducing emissions compared to our older machines in the fleet, helping us achieve our targets for reducing our carbon footprint by 2030.

It was only right that the success of this new machine was put forward for this prestigious award.

Ryan Clemson, Apprentice National Setting Out Engineer, has been shortlisted for Apprentice of the Year due to his effective communication skills on-site, and how he behaves, particularly recognising equality, diversity, and inclusion when dealing with those he works alongside. It is safe to say the Roger Bullivant team trusts him to work independently, taking this in his stride, and has thrived in this environment.

Within less than 12 months at RB, Ryan is already carrying out the full role of a Setting Out Engineer, CAT scanning and completing Permits to Dig, assisting with allocating labour and plant to jobs, and completing SHEQ compliance documents on site ensuring that all our teams are working safely.

Join us in wishing the RB team the best of luck for the awards ceremony in November…
