Strong Foundations for Education: Roger Bullivant Limited Partners with Kier on North Whiteley School

Roger Bullivant Limited (RBL) is proud to be working with Kier Construction to deliver the foundations for a new secondary school in North Whiteley, Hampshire. This project showcases RBL’s ability to provide efficient, sustainable solutions for major institutional developments.

Driven Precast Concrete Piles were selected for their many advantages over traditional wet cast methods. Precast piles offer a faster and cleaner installation process, helping to keep the programme on track. Their segmental lengths mean reduced material wastage, while the use of low-carbon concrete supports the project’s sustainability goals. With no spoil arisings to consider, this approach also minimises disruption and environmental impact on site.

The team is installing 400 piles, using a mix of 250mm and 300mm section sizes, to support the main school building and sports block. By adapting to ground conditions and working closely with Kier, RBL ensured the design remains robust while maintaining efficiency and programme certainty.

Working near residential properties required a considerate approach, so RBL deployed quiet hammer rigs to keep noise to a minimum. Combined with the inherent benefits of precast piles, this solution reflects RBL’s commitment to delivering foundations that are both high-performing and environmentally responsible.

Jim Hargrave, Commercial Division Director at Roger Bullivant Limited, commented, ” By using Driven Precast Concrete Piles, we’ve achieved a solution that is efficient, sustainable, and considerate to the surrounding community. It’s a method that reduces waste, lowers carbon impact, and keeps programmes on track.”

This collaboration with Kier highlights Roger Bullivant Limited’s expertise in delivering innovative, sustainable foundation solutions for complex institutional projects.
