Roger Bullivant Limited (RBL) is proud to be delivering specialist piling solutions for Wavensmere Homes’ Canalside development in Wolverhampton, a transformative regeneration scheme set along the historic canal network and adjacent to the railway line.

The project, which is being delivered in multiple phases, showcases our expertise in adapting foundation solutions to complex ground conditions and restricted access environments. To date, we have installed 400 Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) Piles using our new 7010 rig, with a total of 1,800 CFA piles estimated across the project. In addition, the team has installed over 80 Sectional Flight Auger (SFA) Piles, with a further 32 piles recently installed in the phase adjacent to the railway.
The choice of CFA piling was driven by the site’s challenging ground conditions and proximity to key infrastructure, including the canal and railway. CFA offers a vibration-free augered solution, making it ideal for sensitive environments where minimising disruption is critical. This method not only ensures structural integrity but also supports sustainable construction practices by reducing noise and ground disturbance. Meanwhile, SFA piling was selected for areas with plant height restrictions, particularly near the railway, where equipment must operate within a strict 9.2m height limit.
The team is currently progressing through Phase 2 of the works, with the overall development expected to span six to seven phases, like the works completed at Wavensmere’s Friar Gate scheme. RBL is achieving impressive productivity, installing up to 25 piles per day.
“This project is a great example of how we tailor our solutions to meet both technical and logistical challenges,” said Nathan Sale, Preconstruction Manager at RBL. “By combining CFA and SFA piling solutions, we’re able to deliver efficient, low-impact foundations that suit the unique constraints of the site.”
This significant investment reflects our continued commitment to supporting high-quality residential developments across the UK, while also strengthening our capabilities in non-residential and infrastructure-adjacent environments.
