MINI PILING

Used for the installation of foundations where access is limited

  1. New foundations for Housing (Up to 3 plots at any one time) close to sensitive areas.
  2. Factory units for Mezzanine floors.
  3. The installation of foundations within factory units for heavy machinery where the settlement criteria is critical.
  4. For the construction of retaining walls, and retro-fit basements.

Bottom Driven Steel cased
Used within restricted areas for poor ground conditions, where deep foundations are impracticable. For extensions to homes and one off housing plots we offer a full design service including site investigation to meet NHBC and Building Control standards. We also design and construct foundations for machine bases, and mezzanine floors where access is limited.

Top Driven Steel / Pre-cast
Used within restricted areas for poor ground conditions where deep foundations are impracticable. Extensions to homes, one off housing plots machine bases and mezzanine floors for example primarily used as an alternative to bottom driven piles to offer a higher load capacity.

Open Hole Auger
Used in ground conditions where heave may be a possibility, but the ground conditions will allow the pile bore to stay open. A plastic coated liner can be installed to a designed depth to minimise heave. Temporary casings can be used to support ground that may be unstable towards the top of the pile. This  means the pile can still be filled with concrete from the top as the casings are removed.

Sectional Flight Auger
Used in ground conditions where heave may be a possibility, but the ground conditions do not allow the pile bore to stay open. Heave conditions will be designed out by increasing the depth of the pile and the reinforcement used. This pile is filled with concrete through the centre of the augers as they are retracted.

Overburden Drilling
There are several methods used for this type of drilling. These are used where the ground conditions do not allow a driven or an augered pile to be used, for example a quarry that has been backfilled in an uncontrolled manner.
A permanent casing is drilled through the fill ground onto the rock head, dependent on the system used, the drill will then continue on into the rock to form the pile at the designed length, or the overburden drill is removed and another type of drill is used to complete the drilling into the rock head. The pile is then filled with a designed grout mix from the bottom.

DTH Open Hole Drilling
Used for drilling into un-reinforced concrete and rock. Can also be used when the overburden drilling has reached the rock head.

Drill Bar Pile
This can be used in most ground conditions and is probably our most versatile pile. The drill bit and bar is sacrificial and are drilled to a designed length and filled with grout through the centre of the bar and drill head.

CHD (Continual Helical Displacement)
This pile requires a great deal of torque so uses our larger mini rigs. It is installed in a similar way to a Sectional Flight Augered pile to a designed length. However there are no pile arisings to remove and in certain ground conditions higher loads are achievable due to the nature of the installation.

Contiguous Piled Wall
Used primarily with an augered pile to form a retaining wall for example underground car parks. The piles are installed approximately 50mm -100mm apart dependent on ground conditions.

King Post Piled Wall
Used primarily with an augered pile to form a retaining wall the pile spacings are dependent to position. The piles are formed and an I section structural steel beam is lowered down into the pile bore vertically  and then concreted into position.  Designed concrete planks, or similar, are then placed between the webbing of each I section beam to form a retaining wall.

In-Situ Ground Beams
Upon completion of the pile, the ground is either excavated to a width and depth required by design or shuttered above ground.  Reinforcement is then placed as per design and the pile reinforcement tied into the ground beam.  After inspection by the relevant authorities the beam will be concreted.

The beams can be designed to withstand any heave forces with the use of void forming or compressible materials.

Soil Nailing
This is used primarily for bank stabilization using the drill bar pile installed at a design angle into the slope (More will follow on this).
