Grand Designs Foundations Thursday, 21st February 2008
Galvanised steel foundation beams are placed between pile caps on a bespoke bungalow development at Chatham in Kent by operatives from Roger Bullivant Ltd (RBL).
Twenty different lengths of the lightweight 'SystemFirst Homes' foundation beam were installed on the site: the longest span is 3.3m and the shortest is 0.9m.
RBL had earlier created 46 augured piles to support the foundation beams, each incorporating a geothermal pipe designed to draw heat from the ground and provide warmth to occupants.
