Retaining Solution in Newcastle Wednesday, 16th January 2008
Operatives from Roger Bullivant Ltd carefully position a reinforcing cage, about to be lowered into the top of a concrete pile installed on a brownfield site in Newcastle.
A row of 126 augered piles have been installed to depths of between 10m and 16m to form a retaining wall, to allow earth to be excavated from one side ahead of construction of an apartment block.
The development beside the city's quayside, on behalf of property developer Mandale Commercial, also includes conversion of a former bonded warehouse, ravaged by fire two years ago, into flats.
