Bullivant researcher scoops first prize Monday, 8th February 2010
Roger Bullivant Ltd and the University of Dundee are currently undertaking a research programme to investigate the performance of the continuous helical displacement (CHD) piles which are used extensively within the Roger Bullivant Group. The research is partly funded by Engineering and Physical Research Council (EPSRC). The aim of the project is to increase understanding of the design and installation of the CHD piling system which has been developed by Roger Bullivant Ltd.
John Jeffrey, the CASE PhD student at Dundee University carrying out the research, has scooped first prize at the annual poster competition hosted jointly by the ICE Scottish Geotechnical Group and the Central Scotland Regional Group of the Geological Society. Jeffrey’s poster, investigating the performance of the CHD piling technique in granular soil, beat off competition from 12 other entrants with poster topics including the site investigation for the new Forth crossing and retaining walls at the New Lanark world heritage site.
John won an engraved trophy and a geotechnical text of his choice.
