Company Chairman enters Hall of Fame

Foundation engineering giant Roger Bullivant Limited scooped a second national innovation award at a prestigious awards ceremony in London.

RBL won the Building Magazine Sustainability Awards Innovative Technology Award for the company’s “green” foundation SystemFirst.

The award was presented just one week after the company won the Sustainable Innovation Award at the 2008 Sustainable Housing Awards organised by Inside Housing Magazine. The first award was also for the SystemFirst foundation.

The awards success come hot on the heels of the company’s Chairman and founder Roger Bullivant officially being inducted into the Construction Industry Hall of Fame at a separate London event.

RBL beat off opposition from Kingspan, BASF, the Zed factory and SHIFT Sustainable Homes to win the first award and Corus, Marley Eternit, Fitzpatrick Contractors and the Building Design Partnership to win the second.

At both ceremonies the judges were said to have recognised that environmentally beneficial solutions like SystemFirst were recognised as making significant impact in the fight against global warming.

The company’s SystemFirst foundation is a lightweight, modular foundation system which delivers significant environmental benefits. The System is the culmination of over 35 years research and development in the foundations market.

Last month, to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the British Construction Industry Awards, 21 individuals who have impacted most on the industry over that period of time were inducted into the BCI Hall of Fame.

A spokesman said:” We have celebrated the project, now we celebrate the achievements of the individuals…”

Along with Roger Bullivant were John Armitt, Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority, Alan Myers, Tunnel Engineer for the Channel Tunnel, Ray O’Rourke, Chairman and Chief Executive of Laing 0’Rourke, Sir Michael Latham author of Construction the Team, Sir Joseph Dwyer, director Crossrail and Nick Raynsford MP, to name a few.

Roger said: “I was highly honoured and humbled to be included in such a prestigious, technically successful group of people. It means a great deal to me.”
